I like HardDdrive video but its too new, easy to break it(drop and too pricy) etc than digtal regular camerea. I m ready to looking for new one. its just for families, baby, and vacations etc. i want something that is simple with awesome video picture, good zoom distance, easier to transfer to DVD player recorder instead of go thru PC etc. I like Sony, soo doyou recommend miniDV or regualr 8mm ?? Feedback will be great!
I can tell you that MiniDV is great. Don't know so much about Hi8 other than I thought that format was supposed to be history until I noticed a few camcorders on the market that still use it. My only experience is with Sony and they have a pretty good picture. I'd like to try the Canon soon, as they look even more promising. HTH.
How about Sony harddrive? i think i ll go ahead and get a risk. Which one is good enuff for my needs (family etc) ?? the one with 799 from sony website ?? Thanks!
I bought the DCR-SR80 hard drive for family stuff and we love it! Super easy to use, light weight, "drop guard feature", I don't think I would ever go back to tape!
Does your DCR 80 has good low light such as indoor ? less grayin?? I m thinking about gettin DCR SR100 thanks!
I does great in low light and transistional (sp) light - going from bright to dark. It has a special night vision feature that is pretty slick!
Do all these camcorders capture in MPEG2? I was just curious because DV AVI makes such huge file sizes but MPEG2 is not a friendly format for re-encoding.
The Sony HDD DCR-SR80 that I have captures in .mpg file. The JVC captures in .mod file, less software support I've been told.
Well i just bought DCR SR80 since i dont need 3.3mp pictures. Paid $635 for it..hope its good price ! Any tips/tricks on DCR SR80 eh ? Thank you all!
The "easy setting" takes care of practically everything. For software:try the supplied software, it actually works and is easy to use; or Nero Vision. Have fun!
