I have a TDK DVDRW0404n from years ago and It's been causing problems. Been out of the game for years already and don't know whats good or bad on burners these days. What should I be looking for when buying one? What would you guys recommend? My budget is around $50, you think I should invest a little more on something else? Thanks!!
You don't even need to spend that much these days. An LG GH22NS30 can be had from newegg for less than half that: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827136152
For SATA, I would recomend: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827136153 For IDE, I would recomend: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827136147 If you have both ports available, get the SATA. LG is good, pioneer is also a nice unit. Plextor still reads through scratches very well, but the build quality is low and the reliability is even lower.
So I bought the LG GH22 IDE yesterday from NewEgg. I will be receiving it today. Is there anything special I could do to the burner to get its full performance? Like is there any hacks or mods I can hook up on the burner? What about firmware? Thanks.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827106291 I always used LG drives, but when I got my 360 back from repair and noticed how quite the new Lite-On drives were, I thought I would try one. Best drive I have ever bought.
