Right people - help me out! My DVD player is just about giving up and I am stuck on what to do next. Should I get a DVD recorder with HDD or just stick to a player for now? There seem to be reliability issues with the recorders. If I do go recordable, do I need DL writing capability? Should I be looking for anything HDMi related? Do I buy something relatively cheap to tide me over for a couple of years and then see what the market has done (e.g. Media PCs, Blu-ray writers etc) or buy a bit of quality now? I'm aware this is a fairly broad spec but my options are open! I do not currently have plasma/LCD but that will be the next TV purchase when my CRT gives up the ghost. Any opinions welcome and feel free to ask me any questions too! Help!
I love my LG HDD Recorder/ dvd burner. It has a built-in networking capability that i use anabuse every chance. real nice for sending shows over to the pc and editing out commercials. I went with this model for that reason alone. Also i enjoy the guide on this unit better than my shitty comcast guide with a few bugs here and there. Hoope this helps. jay
OK, I have made the decision and now just need some opinions on what to go for. I want a DVD recorder with HDD (at least 80Gb) that has RGB SCARTs, HDMi upscaling and records to a variety of formats (to include +R, +RW). I'm not bothered about a digital tuner. Dual Layer would be nice, but not essential. Finally, do I go for big brand or trust the likes of LG, Thomson, Liteon etc.? Thanks!
