Hi, I have a portable dvd player, and would like to record some dvds from my regular dvd recorder. My recorder can record from external devices and I'm hoping this can be done. How would I do this? Kimmi
Unfortunately you won't be able to do this because of the protection on a store bought DVD. You wouldn't even get a viewable picture going from one DVD player to another unlike the VCRs of old where you could purchase a little box to filter out the Macro vision there is no such thing that works from DVD player to DVD recorder (not one that works any good) Now if these are DVDs that have no copyright protection then that is a different story. Just connect your audio/video cables to the output of the portable DVD player (where you would hook it up to a TV) into the audio/video inputs on your DVD recorder and presto!

i did record from a player to my computer,i use a pinnacle system and recorded in real time in mpeg to see if i could do it.. it took as long as the movie played to copy it to the hard drive.. that was my first and last time to do it that way..with a movie.. i use that system to copy home video movies to put on a dvd from a camcorder vhs or digital camcorder..
