    Hello everyone

It had been a while sense i had visted my first and best forum :)

I have ran into a slight probleme and i am sure that you guys/girls can help me.

So here is the probleme, About 1.5 years ago i bought this PC- http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/...y&tool=prodinfoCategory&dlc=en&product=436536

After the first day or so, I realized that i had WinDVD on my PC installed, I opend it and there was a option to create DVD or something, I selected this and there was two recording option, One which was by Webcam, which worked and the other one was from a video recorder. The webcam worked because i had installed my webcam a while ago but when i select the second video recorder option it just makes a loud rustling noise and the screen was full of black and white dots.

Now what i would like to know is how i can connect my Video to my PC so that i can then record anything which is playing on the Video directly to my PC, The reason i only want it on the Video is because this would be more convieniant for me as i can easily record Stuff from my TV and then take my Video upstairs and then connect to my PC and start recording and the burning my video into DVD :D

I have given my computer specs ubove, and i am not sure what fetures i would need on video, because my video is fairly old, and videos these days are cheap so i can buy a new one if need be, But i would rather not buy another video and use any equipment i have so far, and maybe buy some of the connection cables if they are needed.

So just to sumarise. How would i get my video connected to my PC so that i can record directly from my video and then record the stuff playing on my video on my PC and later on transfer this to DVD. If i need any additionall cables please could you name them to i can buy them, and If there are any ports on the video needed which i dont have, please could you name them and then give me a picture so that i can check if i have the necessary ports. If there is any more things needed please could you tell me them aswell and also sometimes pictures would be helpfull because i am not too farmilular with this new stuff :) I have looked through the manual which came with my PC and it was very un-helpfull it was only about 20 pages which told me about HP and windows etc etc, So this was no use to me because it did not tell me anything about the video/PC recording which i needed to know.

Thank you very much in advance to anyone who can help me. I hope to hear from you soon.

    -Mansoor

to capture your videos you will need a video capture device this can either be in the form of a pci expansion card or a external usb device the link you gave is pretty usless it only gives basic information but a link gave me this

    http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c00246030.pdf

which states you have Front audio ports
    Front video-in
    TV out
you will need to connect the video out of your vcr to the video in port of your computer and the Audio out of your vcr to the line in port of your computer you may need a macrovision filter on the video if the tapes you are trying to copy are protected try to save in mpeg-2 format if the software in your machine supports it, it will save you a lot of time later when you create your dvd

Ah, ok thanks very much for that :)

So could you possibly post me a picture of which ports are which because i am very un-knowleged in this area and a visual image would be very helpfull.

Thank you very much for your time and help.

-P.S, Could you post me the name and if possible a picture of the cables which i need in order to connect the wires from my PC to my VCR.

    Thank you once again

the capture card that i would recommend getting is the winfast capture card. i have this same card in my computer. you can either buy it online or at a retail electronic store (i.e comp USA, or circuit city) this link below is a picture of what it looks like and info about it.

    http://www.directron.com/winfastpvr2000.html

you will be able to connect the AV jacks of your video source directly to the capture card and record all your videos. then it will make it into a computer file on your computer, once its on your computer you can edit the video with an editing program. i hope this info that i gave you has helped. ill be back later to check up on you. if you have any questions just post another reply and ill help you with em.
