recording vhs to dvd

    If I have a dvd recorder, can I hook my vcr to it and record my vhs tapes to a dvd disk?

    Only what you tape from TV. Probably not your commercial, store-bought VHS tapes (Macrovision copy-protection). But you could buy one of those boxes that will defeat the copy protection, but why bother - just rent the DVD, and nick-nick-a-doo with Decrypter. ;)

    Thanks for the reply.Actually the only thing I want to record is all my old home movies,vacations ect.Will it work for those?

    Sure chewbaca. If they are home movies and you recorded them with a camcorder, you could do even better than a VHS player transfer by using the Super-VHS "S" cable from your camcorder to hook directly to the DVD recorder.
