Greetings All! Can anyone help? I backed up my entire photo collection on DVD and restored my computer and when I went to restore the backed up photos from the disk I accidently stared an erase of the disk with Record Now, when I attempt to browse the disk it does not display any inofrmation or contents of the disk. Among the measures I have taken were, I downloaded a number of data recovery freeware tools that allowed me to scan the DVD and to my surprise all the files were still there, however all theprograms I downloaded from download.com asked me for a registration key to unlock the scanned files. So if anyone has a program for rescueing deleted or damged disks or knows of a freeware link for doing so, I would greatly appreciate it! Thanks, Doug
You could try some of these... http://www.snapfiles.com/Freeware/system/fwdatarecovery.html Check out the software "Zero Assumption Digital Image Recovery" That might work? If not their is a handfull of others that are Freeware to try out...
You will probably have to go to a 3rd party recovery program like CD Roller or ISO Buster. Both work pretty well. http://www.cdroller.com/ http://www.smart-projects.net/isobuster/
Thanks for your replies, however, those downloads all require purchase for unlocking rescued files and right now I am not in a financial position to be paying for extra software for my computer. It is my hopes that there is someone out there that created their own program for recovering accidently deleted files from various media types and they are willing to zip it to me or link me to it as a freeware to give it public exposure as many programming enthusiasts have done. All the best! Doug
both worked for me just now as i could have downloaded the 1st 1 a 2nd time when it popped up but cancelled it.
OK, I tried the first link again and it worked! -THANK YOU! I was able to scan the entire DVD disk for various file formats and save them to a folder on my hard drive, I will have to rename them and create new folders for them but that's nothing in comparison to having to pay for a registration key wich I am not in a position right now to afford. Most importantly, I have my photo album back!!! Yay! In case anyone else comes about the same situation the link to the download for recovering files from accidently deleted disks is as follows: http://www.softwarepatch.com/software/smartrecovery.html Thanks again for all your help!
