Does anyone know of a way to redirect the output of a conversion utility to the harddrive instead of the CD?

I know it sounds odd .. just asking. Specifically I want to make the harddrive 'look' like a really big CD-R to the application.

I guess I was looking for more of a systems level approach.

IOW, if an application was going to write to the CD-RW I want to fool the app (what ever it might be) into thinking that the hard drive is a CDRW drive.

The 'spoofing' would require that the data payload be delivered into the appropriate format for the hard drive while making the app think that everything was going fine burning data to the CD-RW.

Then, I'd want to be able to fool another app into thinking that the data now on the hard drive was being sourced from a CD...........
