Hi. I have avi files that I want to convert and burn to play on stand alone dvd players in mpeg2 form. I'm using NeroVision Express to convert the avi files but after sometimes HOURS and HOURs of waiting I get a message like 'unable to prepare data for recording. the file may be corrupt' or 'internal error 255' which is HIGHLY frustrating. How can I fix this problem or repair the avi file? Plus is there a better program than Nerovsion Express for doing what I have described? Thanx. Greg
If you do a search you'll find your answers in other threads... I have no experience in converting DVD2MPEG as I take from DVD - author it (compress it if it's over 4.36Gb) - back to DVD. Otherwise I'd help more.
try tmpgenc but will need the full version to do mpeg2 have a look at dvdrhelp.com some very good guides on converting files to vcd/svcd/dvd and lists of all the tools and programs that you would need,
thanx for your help guys. everything is appreciated. a few more questions. i converted an avi to dvd and then burnt it. the pic was good but no sound. the codec for the avi is ac3-digital. might that be the problem? i used nerovision express to do it. plus whats the best program to repair what might be corrupted data in an avi file? thanx.
If your still using NeroVisionExpress instead of switching to Nero Burning Rom then I can understand why you have problems. Nuff said !!
though to be honest i havent a clue how to use Nero Burning Rom to convert an avi to dvd to be burned and used on standalone dvd player. i really am new to this. sorry! and still getting some messages saying 'corrupt data' etc- can this be fixed with any programs? i tried divfix but it didnt help.
Nero wont convert .avi to .mpeg (2) There are programs out there that do a good job of converting. As previously stated I dont convert from .avi to any dvd compliant file so I cannot help to proggies that are best at avi to mpg. Nero is plain & simple JUST burning software.
right... when i join two avi files to make one big avi movie and try and convert it doesnt work but if i convert the two separately then that works. what am i doing wrong when joining the avi files? plus the two separate avi files which have been converted and burned to dvd are out of synch slightly on the dvd and sometimes go a second or so out of synch. how do i keep synch? cheerz.
