Hi I'm looking for a program that can remove ads and commercials from my DVD backups. There seems to be a lot of authoring programs out there so I thought maybe someone with more experience could recommend a simple and easy to use program? thanks
If you are talking about commercials between scenes of recorded TV programs, then the cheapest and best is to simply use the 'Re-Author' tool in DVD Shrink. Load the DVD files, click 'Re-author', drag 'Title 1' from the right side of the window to the left side, and click on the little 'Start/End frames' logo, cut out the bits you don't want, then 'Backup'.
Hi, sorry I was talking about movie DVDs. I tried the re-author function in DVD Shrink but it wouldn't let me keep the menus? Only the movie parts..
What I do is author my TV recordings in GUI for DVD Author and set chapter points at the ends of the commercial breaks. No editing and I just hit the next button on my remote to skip the commercials.
If you have finished DVD, the easiest would be to get DVDRemake, import your DVD into it, split cell where commercial start, split cell where commercial end and delete that. Do it for all parts you do not want, than export new DVD file and burn. You will not loose any menu or other parts of DVD. In any case this editing is usualy done before authoring DVD not after, unless you have DVD made by DVD Recorder.
Another one is videoredo plus. That is what I use to remove commercials from mpeg2's, but it'll work on vob's just as well. It has a feature that automatically scans the video for commercials. It's frame accurate and doesn't reencode the video. It's the fastest editer out there. http://www.videoredo.com/en/ProductPlus.htm
There is freeware that does this Mpeg2Schnitt and Mpg2Cut2 to name a few, combined with comskip commercials can be detected and removed.
