Help? I recently had a hard drive fail with over 400gb of .avi files stored on it. I've recovered 90% of these and most of them are intact. The problem is the recovery program doesn't rescue the file name intact it instead renames with a random 4 letter name such as 'HTFN.avi' I now have to go through and try to identify and rename them. Does anyone know of a program to that will allow me to view and rename these files quickly? Thanks
Hi, Open Windows Explorer. To do so, click Start, point to All Programs, point to Accessories, and then click Windows Explorer. Select multiple files in a folder (to do so, press and hold down the CTRL key while you are clicking files) After you select the files, press F2, type the new name, and then press ENTER.
thanks for the reply but perhaps you don't understand my question and besides the answer you've provided is completely wrong as I'm not wanting to rename a group of files exactly the same which is all this will achieve or perhaps you thought I was a pc beginner. I have 800+ video files, they are all different movies, tv etc and need to be viewed to identify and then be renamed with the correct title. So I need some sort of batch processing solution or perhaps a script that is capable of changing the header file name without leaving the program being used to identify the video file. The only thing I can think of at this stage is to make a playlist out of the existing 800+ files in MPC to view each video without having to constantly load each file, and then identify it as I move on to the next so that the file permission is then released on each file allowing me to rename.... but it's a longwinded and time consuming solution...
