Can anyone tell me a way of repairing my Windows Xp without losing any data. My partition was running low on space and it came up with a box telling me to compress certain files, after that was done it said some system files had been altered and i needed to repair my computer but i didnt have my CD so i clicked cancel. Now lots of programs like task manager wont run at all.

Since you don't have your windows disc try restoring your computer prior to the low space alert using "system restore". Once that is done and your computer has restarted download CCleaner from http://www.ccleaner.com/ccdownload.asp. on the left hand panel click "clean" and then click "analyze" when finished click "run cleaner. This will clean your windows files and computer of unneeded files. Then click on "issues" on the left hand panel when finished scanning click "fix selected issues". This will repair the windows registry of errors. Might pay to do a "windows disc cleanup" afterwards and a "disc defrag". Hope this helps!
