Please help me with this problem. I have two plextor DVD writer drives - Plextor 708A and Plextor 716A. The older 708A works fine. I am having problems with the recently purchased 716A.

The error message comes up towards the end of writing:
    ---------------------------
    DVD Decrypter
    ---------------------------
    I/O Error!

    Device: [1:1:0] PLEXTOR DVDR PX-716A 1.03 (E:) (ATA)

    ScsiStatus: 0x02
    Interpretation: Check Condition

    CDB: 2A 00 00 1D 0C 00 00 00 20 00
    Interpretation: Write (10) - Sectors: 1903616 - 1903647

    Sense Area: 70 00 05 00 00 00 00 0A 00 00 00 00 2C 00 00 00 00 00
    Interpretation: Command Sequence Error
    ---------------------------
    Retry Cancel
    ---------------------------

I have used Verbatim and Ritek disks, DVD-R, DVD+R and DVD+R DL. I am getting the same error message with 716A everytime I want to write from an ISO file. The same file writes fine with the older 708A on DVD-R disks, but gives problems with the 716A on either DVD-R, DVD+R or DVD+R DL disks.

After reading inputs in other parts of this forum, let me add, I do not have Plextools running while burning the DVD, and I also close down most background applications and disconnect my LAN connection for that duration.

I would be obliged if someone can let me know what I should do.

I called up Plextor Tech Support. They advised me to run a self diagnostic test mentioned in the user manual. It appears that the drive has read/write error. So they have issued an RMA to me, and I am going to return the drive, in order to get another one. This is a pain, really, and I am paying to ship it out. But, well, I am paying for the plextor name...

I will update this thread when I receive the replacement equipment.
