I have a LiteOn HD-A740GX PVR with a 160Gb HDD and a DVD Re-writer. It doesn't have Freeview but is connected to a Freeview box.

Does anyone know if it is possible for an end-user to replace the HHD? If I replace the 160Gb unit with a 250 / 320 / 500 or even 750Gb unit, will the system recognise it and be able to format it?

I guess what I am really getting at is whether the software is likely to be in some sort of EEPROM or is it on the HDD? If in an EEPROM, is it likely that it will have been hard coded to work only with a particular capacity HDD?

Has anyone ever tried making such a change with any PVR?

    Thanks

Many thanks for that. The reply by CrazyCanuck looks worth investigating.
