ripping audio from xvid

    im trying to rip the audio from some xvid films as thats the only way these films can be converted with tmpge. i used to use virtual dub but lately its only been ripping half the audio ive tried uninstalling and reinstalling ive downloaded the latest version ive even tried formatting my pc can anyone help or know of any other free programs that work well

    I'm afraid that AVI hasn't MP3 sound, but AC3 sound.
    I would suggest you this:

    1) open that AVI with VirtualDubMod (a smart VirtualDub's modification)
    2) do Stream___Stream List. What do you see? I assume you see an AC3 stream.
    3) on that screen, click [demux]. Then exit.
    4) if you plan do do a DVD with it, simply load that AC3 with delay = 0 in you authoring application. Nothing simpler.
    5) If not, you'll need to convert AC3 48 kHz into MP2 44.1 kHz. Use FFMPEG Gui. Than multiplex it to the TMPGenc's result,
