    i gots a question for y'all:
is it possible (or rather, is there a not-too-difficult way) of ripping JUST the dvd menu (i would like to rip a dvd menu from a commercial disk to use on my custom made ones)

That's a first. First off nero recode 2 would rip just a menu, but why would you want to? You'd have a menu for a movie you don't have taking up a 4.3gb disc with a 2 minute menu. Why not go to nerovision express 2 and create your own menu for your video. I don't know what programs you have, DVDlab will also create a menu, but u could buy Nero Ultra 6 for half and it does a whole lot more. Strange question........

i guess i should also have asked for best (popular sofware) to to author dvds (something that would allow fancy menu creation). thus far i've only used tmpenc dvd author, but i'm getting tired of cheap-looking menus, hence the question.
also, who said i plan to take up the whole dvd with JUST the menu, what a strange assumption....
i just want to use and edited version of the professional menu on my custom dvds

If u want a program that will author proffessional looking menus get DVDLab, as I stated earlier,nve2 in the Nero Ultra 6 edition also does a good job plus u get a whole lot more software designed to fit most of your dvd needs.PS-
that sounds like u just want the dvd menu which would be tailor made for that particular movie, hence, strange question.
