First of all, I'm extremely sorry if any of my issues have been previously discussed in other threads. I DID search through them but have been less than successful in finding out what I need. Basically, I'm having a hell of a time ripping certain DVDs to my hard drive. I've tried DVD Shrink, DVD Decrypter, CloneDVD, CloneDVD with AnyDVD running, AnyDVD's standalone ripper and DVDFab Decrypter. I've tried these with 5 or 6 different discs and all have been unsuccessful. Sometimes the ripper can't even open the disc (DVD Shrink), other times it fails part way through (DVD Decrypter) as the disc being unreadable, and I've even completed the rip, but when I check my file it's only about 900mb in size, and is only scrambled scenes - not the whole movie (Clone DVD). At first I thought that maybe the discs I tried just have new copy protections that the rippers can't crack. But I tried "older" discs that should be a breeze for most rippers and have had the same problem. Then I thought maybe the original copy of the DVD was scratched or damaged... but to have the same outcome with 5 or 6 different movies seems a little too convenient. Finally, I thought maybe I had a hardware problem with my DVD drive, and tried using my second drive, only to have the exact same problems. I've used the DVD Decrypter/DVD Shrink combination many many times in the past and have never had a problem. Does anyone have any suggestions on what I'm doing wrong, or what other programs I could try? Any and all help would be GREATLY appreciated.
using dvd decrypter alone or dvd shrink won't handle alot of the newer releases being the programs don't update anymore. you have a few options you can use the anydvd ripper(as you said) or run anydvd behind dvd shrink to transcode then burn or rip with dvd fab transcode with dvd shrink and burn. using clonedvd 2 + anydvd is the best/easiest option the program updates to do the newer movies and it very easy to use.plus its all you need!! i would uninstall and do a clean reinstall of your dvd burning programs sounds like you have a conflit somewhere or check your drive/burner for a firmware update, check here http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_all.php heres a software page and some guides http://webpages.charter.net/bacitup/
