Dumb Newbie question for all you ripping experts.
I've just bought an Archos AV420 and am delighted with it but...
I'm trying to find out how to rip some of my own DVDs which are copy protected to the correct format for the Archos. Some are Region 1, some Region 2. (Don't know if that's an issue here)
The more I read the more confused I get.
Can somebody please set down an idiot-proof line by line procedure so I can get the darn thing to play my own movies.
I've just shelled out about £50 for a copy of Roxio Media creator * suite only to find that it wont touch copy protected discs. (Grrrr...). I understand that the AV420 needs MPEG4 simple profile (whatever that is)
I could really use some help here...

using your favorite search engine (ie: google, ask jeeves, etc.) type in "video conversion for Archos AV420". I needed something similar for my mp3/media player and found a program specific to the model I'm using. Good luck.

well i am far from an dvd ripping expert, but my self i use gordian knot for ripping and i havn't had any problems with copyprotected dvd-s, after ripping it to some .avi, use PocketDivXencoder 0.3.60 to encode again to the exact match for your Archos AV420, everything it needs to do will do automaticly.
