Hi there, I am trying to play the movie gorillas in the mist (an AVI). Looking at the file properties of the file, I see that it is encoded with the RMP4 codec. I think I have found the codec and installed it (Sigma RealMagic). But now whenever a little bit of motion is present in the movie I see all kinda of artifacts (squares of the previous frames). My question is: is this codec really bad or am I doing something wrong????? Thanks for any help, Aki
The codec is bad, but not in the way you are thinking. Sigma RealMagic == XviD. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xvid#Sigma_Designs_controversy My advice would be to avoid the codec and just change the FourCC to XVID instead. If it doesn't work then check if there is a bitrate version in the user data tags (use MPEG4Modifier) if not try adding XviD0001 and trying again. Oh yeah, also ffdshow supports the fourCC, so you could try that.
