router problems (peak)

    HI
    I have re-installed windows as my com crashed,it is a laptop and I had a peak wireless router etc. I can connect to the wireless router but can't get online, the only way to get online is by using my modem.
    the guy next door helped me set it up but he is busy so can't help etc,I remember typing in an ip address and a blue screen come up with info etc but when i am online i cant get it up? number was 82.46.228.224 do i need to be connected to internet and router to do the set up as I can't do both, just one at a time etc with leads.
    hope someone knows what i am on about as it a bit complicated etc

    Make sure you connect the ethernet wire from the modem to the WAN link on your router. Connect another ethernet wire from the router to your computer. Open up IE and type in 192.168.0.1. Type in your username and password for your router. This would get you to that blue page. Then modify your wireless connection.
