Whenever I try to open Roxio Photo Suite 5 I get a message that says ROXIOP~1.EXE has encountered a problem and needs to close. I've done some research, and think it may have something to do with having Nero installed on my computer. I have uninstalled Nero on Roxio, then tried to re-install Roxio Easy CD & DVD Creator, but I am still getting the same message. Can anyone help me fix this? I like to use Photo Suite for editing my pictures.

You can have both installed on your comp, I do. The trick is to have only Direct Cd or InCd installed, since they are both pacet writing software they don't get along.I don't have either installed btw. Since you've uninstalled Nero head over there and download their utility to remove all reminants of the software.I forget the name of it,sorry. Roxio also has a utility that will do the same for their software it's called roxizap. I'd run both then try a clean install of roxio, then nero. If possible don't install either packet writing software it will save you alot of headaches not to mention if you do decide to upgrade to Roxio's ez6 the updated Directcd is called Drag-to-disk and cannot read any of the older Direct Cd images which totally bites.
Anyways I hope some of this helps G'luck

    tpollon2,

Most users uninstall Roxio because Roxio doesn't play well with a lot of programs, burners and even anti-virus programs.

Since you like Photo Suite here is what you should do –

Let's start with a clean system.

    1. Uninstall Roxio and then Nero.

    2. Reboot your PC.
Important to do this so the uninstall is complete.

    3. Install Roxio.

    4. Go to msconfig and turn off EVERYTHING that deals with Roxio.
Reboot your system so the changes will take place.

    5. Install Nero.

    6. At no time have both programs running at the same time. Nero will most likely not work correctly.

You will find things like DVD XCopy, Xpress will also not work well with Roxio. They might work well once but it's not reliable.

You might play with Nero's Vision see if you like that -

I install Roxio when I'm putting together music CD's when I'm done, I uninstall it -

Keep it out of msconfig and you should be fine –

If you are having trouble with programs - look to uninstalling Roxio to solve your problem.

    Welcome to the forum -

It seem that DarkFoss is a faster typer than I am -

Remember to reboot every time you install, change msconfig and install -

Again, everything Roxio OFF in msconfig -
