Hi, I have a Dell Inspiron 1150 with a Samsung CDRW/DVD SN-324. I tried to write to Memorex 1x-4x 700MB 80min CD-RW Professional Rewritable Compact Discs but at the end of the write process got a message "disc may be unuseable". Later attempts seemed to write successfully but reading from the CD revealed one or two of the (JPEG) files on the CD were corrupted and unreadable. I've since seen Memorex CD-RWs panned in reviews on Amazon and elsewhere. My drive spec is Write: CD-RW 10x, 4x(CLV) High Speed Media, and 4x(CLV) Standard Speed Media. Read: 24x. And the spec says "fully compatible with standard speed (4x) and High Speed (10x) CD-RW media". Does anyone have any advice on which make and speed of CD-RW media works properly with the Samsung CDRW/DVD SN-324 please? Mike HR
Hi Mike, have you got any answer to your question??? I have exactly the same issue as you. I asked many time Dell support to help me to solve it, but they didn't do anything. I try to find the new drive for the Samsung CDRW/DVD thing on Dell website, unsuccesfully. I would really appreciate your help if you found a way to solve this issue. Please let me know! Moreover, I was wondering if it was not the CDC/DVD thing which was not working. Sometimes it makes a funny noise! Have you got the same issue too? If you want you can answer me on: gallouinlondon@yahoo.co.uk Many thanks, Looking forward to your answer. Regards, Gallou
Hi, Yes, I did solve the problem. I bough some TDK 4x-12x CD-RWs. I also discovered you MUST format CDs before you try to write on them. Whether my original problem was caused by bad CD-RWs or by not formatting I don't know. Mike HR
No. The formatting doesn't even work. It stopped before the end saying that there was an issue during formatting... It lasts at least 15min before having this error message. Should I bring the computer to servicing? ;-) Thanks a lot! Gallou
