I tried to open the memory stick on my computer. It pops up a message to update, so i updated it. When i tried to reopen it, it said that i need to format the disk. If i format it, all my data are going to be lost. What should i do to not lose the data???? Help please!

Those things suck, they come with some crappy software installed on them that limits what you can do with it. I had a link that explained how to get it off, but I can't find it. I will try and find it for you.

Also, why don't you just copy all the data to your pc, then format the usb key, then copy all the data back to the key? Or can you not see the contents of the usb key? Sounds like something got corrupted if that's the case. For instance, if I make a driver disk in Linux, then stick that floppy or usb key on a Windows box, Windows can't read the disk and wants to format it. Sounds like the SW did something to the key.

    Just a thought...

I have a Sandisk Micro Cruzer 2, and the first thing that I did was get rid of the software that was on it. I have had no problems with it.

Do what ddp suggested. Hopefully you will be able to see the files on it.
