All I can tell you is yes it is possible but the cost is quite high is regards to installation and monthly charges.

also, not very good for internet gaming; the download speeds tend to be good, but the upload isn't.

Hi Auslander cheers for the info. Do you have a similar sort of connection? I have installed some of these but only for corporate/government projects I have never seen anyone with a satellite link for personal internet purposes. Any info appreciated as I have scared a few people off with the cost implications, I just wanted to know if there is a better personal package available out there as I know a few people in rural areas who would appreciate this info.

there are too many variables to just tell someone in a rural area that their only choice is satellite or dialup. oftentimes, there is some kind of other option.

i don'thave much personal experience, just what some friends have told me about their connections.

Cheers just some of these people are in the West of Ireland and have not any other options due to lack of any cable or wireless infrastructure in this area, believe it or not even direct telephone feeds. Even GSM connection is unavailable . Suppose they will just have to wait on the money to become available to expand this infrastructure to their area. Bad state of affairs I know in this day and age.
