    Hey guys,

I'm not sure if I'm even able to describe the error but I've been trying to make a back of a DVD by converting it to Xvid. I'm not sure where I'm going wrong, but the resulting file seems to have the ripple like scanline, in a horizontal direction when anything moves in the video, its as if the object distorts it self at the edges. The dvd from which I'm converting he file is an NTSC dvd while the settings or Xvid are as follows : -

Resolution = 600 X 450 (any frame rate makes no difference)
2nd Pass Profile = AS @ Level 5 with the Quantization on h.263 and Adaptive quantization on along with the default settings for BVOPs.

Target Filesize was set at 733184 Kbs (716 mb) but it usually exceeds this size.

In the Advanced Options, under the Quantization Tab, Min I-Fran Quantizer is set to 2 while the rest are default.

Oh and the software I'm using is Kingdia.

    Peace out brother..er..marines!

Sounds like your source is interlaced. You should be able to see the same effect in your input.

600 X 450 is a bad resolution by the way. Something like 608 X 464 would make more sense. Not quite 4:3, but at least it is mod16.

Hmm...that could be a possibility, but when I have the Interlaced Encoding option selected..the program simply crashes. Also..how do you determine what the screen resolution should be?? 640*480 has a 75 percent ratio difference, so I've just maintained the same ratio with 600*450. Ah well....I'm not that good with the whole DVD ripping deal.
