Scientific Atlanta Explorer 8300 (SD) stopped working

hi,

I've had my pvr for over 3 years now and had no issues until recently.

As of now I can watch tv through it no problem but cannot record and get a "unrecoverable disk error" if i try to access my recorded items or anything related to recording tv.

I've rebooted it a few times, it works for a few hours then the disk crashes again.

since i'm out of warranty i'm not really interested to bring it to my cable provider to avoid the ridiculous repair charge i would get.

anybody know if this could be fixed with just a hdd change? something i could do myself?

I have the same problem as you, did your picture also freez while the sound continues?

did you resolve it?
