can anyone help got box but bad scrambled channel comes up now and again for few seconds. driving us nuts expecially when it goes during the good part of the film. have not got any cables as box was already set up for me. cable is split in attic already and have connected booster wondered if there is some other way of stopping this.

Is it a Starview 1 or a Starview 2 called the box. Go to menu and system info and post back what it says.

How long do you have the box as it needs to be updated. I also need to know if it is a clone or genuine box, click the link at the end of my post entitled SV EV info there are images there to help you decide.

OK do you have a null modem cable to connect between your pc and the starview if you do please make sure your pc also has a 9 pin port to plug into, if you are using a laptop you may need an adapter also.

You need this/these items before you can upgrade the firmware.

As said you need one or the two of these items below dependent upon wheter you have a D9 serial port on your pc/laptop. If you do you will only require the null modem cable.

    Null modem info here

    http://www.maplin.co.uk/Search.aspx?criteria=L71BT&DOY=2m6

Make sure your USB adapter is a USB to serial port adapter similar to this one.

    USB Adapter info here

    http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx...t10&doy=search&MenuName=USB to Serial Adaptor

These two cable links are only for reference as they can be purchased alot cheaper on fleabay.

All firmware/loader can be found in the link at the end of my post marked Eamos FTA Library.

You will need the GTromloader, (Starview Software Uploader), found in the Starview folder of the link.

You will need version 4.oo for a GENUINE box.

This can be found in the Starview Firmware Folder of the link.

And please download the Starview PDF guide this will give you step by step instructions on how to do everything. This can be found in the Starview Documentation folder in the link.

No problem you could also improve it by changing the splitter/cabling and use a better booster, but try the firmware upgrade and see if it settles if not its down the cabling/splitter/booster road you go.

I had a similar problem to you and I ended up changing the cable, connectors and splitters. I was even able to get rid of the booster I had. Here are some links for you:

    Best booster

http://www.beststuff.co.uk/konig_amp-pro30.htm , although Maplins/Argos do a variety of these but they are no where near the quality of this one.

    CT100 Cable

    http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=275&criteria=ct100&doy=28m9

    Twist On F Type Connectors

    RF Splitter
