Hi i recently bought a DVD movie (Shrek) second hand and it has a scratch on it... so it doesnt play on my stand alone DVD player but it plays on my pc.

I have a DVD writer for backup's at work and i was wondering as the DVD is mine can i make a backup of it to see if it works on my DVD player not on my PC? If so is there such a program that does a striaght copy? with special features etc? because the karaoke scene is great and my kid loves it :)

any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Regards

did you know, that if a dvd or cd is scratched on the writing side, that toothpaste rubbed into the scratch often fixes the problem, it works like a fine rubbing compound removing the scratch. (remember to rinse) :>)
    (not arm and hammer)

Rob. I heard that as well, but haven't tried it yet.

I am not trying to be funny here, but is one particular kind better than another? I don't mean 24hour protection or anything.

I mean if you are filling the scratch, is a gel one better than a white one? Or is that not the way it works?

LOL - not trying to be funny - jeeez, you had me in stitches.

Also, flashing a flame across the surface has a reaction with the organic surface element causing it to come together. This will usually solve any problems with the smaller scrapes. You can buy a special solution and a machine to get rid of scrapes on DVD's.

Now, im off to find some extra whitening toothpaste, c if that'll work.......

lol, well u see arm and hammer uses baking soda as opposed to a fine grit, therefor would not work on a cd :>)
and it dosent FILL the scratch , it wears it down making it not a scratch.
