    @brandonj -

    - that's quite old now. Uninstall Nero, uninstall completely via Nero's Clean Tools - " http://www.nero.com/en/Clean_Tools.html ", download latest which is 6.6.0.15. Plus use Burning Rom if you have it, Express is a dumbed-down version

    - i think your firmware's up to date, far too much choice of firmware for these drives for my simple mind -

    http://www.micheldeboer.nl/firmware/3500.html
    http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/202585

    - edited as this denotes the drive as being an external drive, oops i had said the drivers were incorrect, my bad

    - you need to free up more memory as your hard drive will be 'swapping'. Plus see if you can get more memory, 256MB is not really enough with XP, never mind DVD burning too

    - DVD files aren't quite complete or compliant. Try running vobblanker (free download) on the folder these files live in, then point the burn at that new folder, files should then be compliant

    - oops you carried on!

    - you're burning virtually to the edge of discs. In DVD Shrink's preferences, alter target size to 4300MB thus avoiding the edge of discs without sacrificing much space

    - are these GENUINE Taiyo Yuden discs ? (they're not labelled as Bulkpaq by any chance are they ? (pls tell me they're not!, i got 'burnt' badly by umpteen 100s of those. Grrrrr!)

    Due to wrong Nvidia drivers Windows XP sees a IDE writer as a Scsi writer.To solve the problem:
    1) download new drivers from Nvidia site
    2) remove the DVD/CD writer from the Windows XP hardware list
    3) remove Nvidia videodrivers (if present)
    4) restart
    5) install the new drivers
    After this Windows will see an IDE writer...and no more SCSI command aborted errors!

    It was probably wrongly converted files. I am not sure where the Nvidia drivers come in though, I am not seeing any reference to any Nvidia hardware.
