Secondary internal hard drive not recognized by computer

    Hello,
    I installed a new secondary hard drive to just have some additional space in another SATA slot in my computer. Initially my computer saw the hard drive, but it was for a much smaller amount of space than the hard drive advertised, so I idiotically went into DISK MANAGEMENT and deleted the drive. After this I couldn't get this new drive to reappear, neither by restarting / changing SATA slots / refreshing DISK MANAGEMENT, or checking under DEVICE MANAGER / BIOS. I assumed I broke the drive, returned it and got another identical one, and I'm still having this issue, where the new drive doesn't show up.

    Any idea what went wrong and how I can fix this? I'd appreciate any insight.

    what is the supposed capacity of the drive & what does it show in the bios?

    It is supposed to be 1 TB, originally it showed up as something like 256GB, but now I CAN'T SEE IT ANYWHERE. I've tried multiple different slots on the motherboard, and can't get it to show up.

    try different sata data cable & different sata power connector. is your c:drive sata too?

    Yes, my C and D drives are both SATA (this new one would be a third hard drive)

    I tried a different SATA power cord and it worked! Thanks so much for your help, I going crazy over that issue!

    no problem, teach & learn. just remember the drive will not show in device manager til you do the disk management routine on the new drive.
