I keep getting seek and write errors on my HP DVD Writer 840b. In the past it worked without a problem. Just in the last two weeks it has been a problem. It happens when I have used Sony DVD+RW, OptoDisc 4x DVD+RW, OptoDisc DVD+R. Any suggestions? You have to turn DMA on. The Optodisc media that you are using...not good. The Sony discs are good media, but your burner's firmware might not be comatible with them. Get some Verbatim discs. I did not find any newer firmware for your burner.
I have corrected the serial number. I did notice that my Primary IDE Channel was set to PIO. I uninstalled and reinstalled it and now its set to DMA. I have not tried it yet to see if it fixed the problem. Thanks
