Hey everybody! About a year ago (maybe a little more) I made some dvd's myself. I put some VHS cassettes on DVD, made some menu's with music and everything. It took me a lot of hours work... Now, after a year I want to watch them again and I see neither my computer, nor the three dvd players I have here, want to play the dvd... Now this is quite frustrating because it worked perfectly well and after a year already, it doesn't anymore. There simply isn't any reaction from the pc or dvd reader... So does anyone know how to recover in extrema the contents written on this dvd? Is there some special program which repairs dvd's which don't work anymore? Thanks a lot! I realy care about this disc
Hopefully you didnt use crap media. I have seen some pay programs that claim to work but havent tried them. The only free one that I know about is isobuster.
Well, I used B.O.S. DVD's... Maybe that's not the best quality, I use TDK now... But could you perhaps give some names of programs (free or not) which can force to read the disc even when your pc normally doesn't... 'Cause there's some problem which causes every reader not to recognise the disc anymore. It just says: No disc... Tx a lot!!
Hey, I tried to read the disc with the program "CD READER" (which is also supposed to read DVD's btw) and I get the following error: Access violation at address 00407B05 in module ‘CD_Reader.exe’. Read of address 00000001. Maybe this can give someone a clue of what's going wrong...
If you used rubbish media when backing up the first time, which you did, then in the long run this doesn't do you ANY favours... The data deteriates, and therefore, can't be read. Try cleaning the laser on your DVD drives etc with a cotton bud and a little rubbing alcohol. Aslo you say you are now using TDK media. Well, that is just as BAD. You want to use Sony, Verbatim or Taiyo Yuden medias!!
Thanks for the reply. But why do you say I used crappy programs to backup? I backed up a vhs to a dvd, can't do much wrong there I thought... Then I used Ulead (lot's of programs) to make and author the dvd... But anyway, I'll take the advise to use Sony, Verbatim,... dvd-r's... I thank you for this precious information!
What Ripper was saying was that it doesnt matter what program you use if you are using crap media. First low burn speeds, good media, and no lables. After all of that and your are still having problems please post again.
Princo were the first media that were found to become unreadable after a short time. Many have also repoted the same thing with CMC.
