I have an older xbox that now when I turn it on it just goes to the contact service screen. Is there any place to send and get fixed or do I need to change te old mod out to a new one??

If it can still play games, I'd just update the soft mod.

Well, do you have the EEPROM backed up? If you do, you can just use xboxhdm to reinstall the files.

If not, you'll have to hot swap.

Or the last choice, have a mod chip installed and use an autoinstaller disc to fix it.

No. The EEPROM is your hard drive's password, and only your Xbox will know it. You can't use a friends.

Based on your response, I'd have to say that your only options are to hot swap or install a mod chip.

Oh, your Xbox is chipped? Why did I automatically assume it's a failed soft mod...

Does the message come up when the chip is disabled, enabled, or both? Also, does it have a back-up BIOS that you can try booting with?
