seperating audio from video

    and vice versa (if that makes sense)
    basically i have a set of clips with english audio but the quality on video is bad. i want to rip the audio from these and i have a set of the same video clips but with french audio and the video quality is good. i want to take out the audio track in these and replace it with the english audio.

    the files are avi

    any programs that can do this?

    Try this.

    VirtualDub, look for 'stable' download.
    http://virtualdub.sourceforge.net/

    Load english video file then, on menu bar, click 'File' 'Save WAV'.

    Load french video file.
    Audio > No Audio
    Video > Direct Stream Copy
    File > Save as AVI............`Save the silent French video with a new name.
    Exit VDUB.



    Start VDUB
    Audio > No Audio
    File > Open Video File.......`Load the Silent French video.
    Video > Direct stream Copy
    Audio > WAV Audio ......... `Load the English wav audio.
    Audio > Full processing mode
    Audio > Compression > select Lame MP3 4800 KHz,128kbps,CBR,Stereo,16KB/s
    File > Save as AVI.............`Save it with a new name.

    I now have the seperate files, the English audio and the French video.
    But i get very bad sync issues when mixing them togeher with Virtual Dub.
    the sync drops after about 3 seconds in.

    any other suggestions?

    Try loading the new file into VDub, click 'Video' 'Framerate' and check the 'Change so Video and Audio..Match' button.
    Save as Direct copy audio and video to prevent recompression.

    PLEASE HELP.
    i have an audio problem.
    some avi files have portugese languauges only and i do not want to reload again as the quality of the movies are great
    now i need to find the english audio and either add/remove it.
    making dual audio.
    my qeustions are
    1.where do i find english audio files only for movies that i can extract.
    2.how do i do this
    3.what program should i use

    If you want another audio track, you would have to get the track from the appropriate video.
    The audio can be extracted [as a WAV file] then added to the existing AVI using VirtualDubMod.
    The video portion would not have to be recompressed.
