Most DVD's I rip are at about the 6 gig mark. Compressed with DVD2one X you really can't notice much difference in quality. Infact they are great. Yet some things, such as DVD's with 6 half hour episodes weighing at about 8 or more gigs really seem to be bad quality.

However, I have done some which turn out to be good. Infact i did one four hour dvd which was originally 8 gig, and it seemed to be pretty perfect.

Now mostly I rip with DVD Backup. Yet some DVD's (namely BBC DVD's, red dwarf, young ones) have some screwed up decyption which for some unknown reason dvd backup can't decrypt.

OSEX however does them with no worries.

This is probably wrong, but is it possible that OSEX some how stuffs up your rip and degrades the quality?

If not, I guess anything over 7.5 gig is probably better left split on to two rather than compressed...

DVDBackup has got some flaws regarding different codings. But I don´t get any quality loss anyway. Only when I watch on an LCD screen such as the computer. Try watching it on a TV instead. Then you won´t get any loss at all.
