settings for divx

    i have a few files in *.vob format.....i wud like to convert them to *.avi i.e.divx can u let me know the settings for best quality......

    There is no "best" settings. It all dependds on what you are encoding. Try a program like Auto GK which lets you encode to xvid or divx and automatically sets it all up for you you have to do very little.
    Or check out one of these guides ( if you scroll down it shows you examples of divx settings but again it depends on what you are encoding.

    Widescreen movies (16:9)

    The only difference between '16:9' and '4:3' is in the settings for VirtualDub's resize filter: 640x360 for 16:9, 640x512 (PAL) or 640x480 (NTSC) for 4:3.
    The best quality's settings are the best settings for the DivX (XviD) codec, i.e. 'slow' and 'multipass'. Of course, the guide teaches you some tricks as the use of VirtualDub's 'deinterlace' , null transform', and 'Resize'.

    the procedure i follow to get movies of dvd is as below ...pls advice me if it is correct or wrong pls......
    i copy the files from the video_ts folder and store the i.e. i literally copy and paste them from there.....

    is this right ....if not pls advice me a better way of doing it and reducing its size as in physical size
