Hey all, yeah I think I messed up real good. Where to start? Well I downloaded and installed "ACE Mega CodecS Pack 6.03 - Professional Edition." Now I've used ACE Mega before without ANY problems whatsoever, but I've been encountering some slight problems before installing. Now I might mention I'm using a Dell that I bought off the official site, and I'm still not quite used to it. I digress. I installed ACE Mega, and then funny things started happening all over. I went into my videos section, went to the metalocalypse folder to watch an episode, and it said explorer performed an illegal operation and in short, I had to uninstall and use system restore just to get back to operational. Now when I try to watch certain AVI files, it either doesn't show any video, or shows extremely choppy video with green splotched polygons it looks like. Now if there's any info I left out or you need to know to help, just ask. I need to watch a 3DS tutorial and it won't let me! So please help! Thank you a million in advance.

Oh, well I think it's basically ALL the codecs. I can play varying files, but not very well. Some MP3's won't even work. Can anyone suggest something to help straighten my system out?

Not sure. I never heard of Ace Codec Pack but it sounds corrupted. A program called G Spot will tell you if the proper codec is installed or which you need when a file is opened in it. I have used the K-Lite codec pack for years and never had a problem with any file. If you wish to use it, make sure you uninstall any other codecs first as they can conflict. The Mega contains everything you should need, including G Spot, and during the install you are given the option of installing the programs you wish. http://home.hccnet.nl/h.edskes/mirror.htm

The terms "Professional" and "codec pack" really don't belong together. I would suggest avoiding codec packs, although once you have installed one it may be too late since the uninstallers don't always work so well.
