I just recently got an old laptop, Gateway 400sd4, 512mb ram, 2.4 ghz processor, and a 32meg video card built-in. I have heard of a thing called shared memory, and how you can use system memory for your video memory. I looked through my bios, and its too basic to make any changes there. I was wondering if there is another way to do this. And if the laptop only supports 512megs of ram if I get more ram can i use it for the video card?
400SD4 Specifications link http://support.gateway.com/s/Mobile/Gateway/400SD4/3501309sp2.shtml the videocard is sharing the main ram of the computer as it does not have it's own ram. it is the same as onboard video for desktop computers as it shares the main ram. the max the laptop can use is 512meg.
i really want it to support higher resolutions the highest it has is only 1024 by 768, i'm not really interested in gaming i got my tower pc for that
