This is just a warning to all of you considering the Sharp BDHP20U. Bought one for Christmas from Amazon, my first BD player. Could not get it to play a BD, nothing but 'Reading Disk'. Tried to work with Sharp, was that ever a bad experience. After three weeks of trying to figure out the problem and concluding that the player was defective, they wanted to replace it with a refurbished unit. Huh? Paid for a new unit, and they wanted to replace it with another broken/fixed one? No way. Talked to Amazon and since it was within 30 days of purchase date they said send it back. Thank God we shop Amazon, they are the best. As for Sharp, all I can say is I'm not too happy that I already own two Aquos TVs. They are the last Sharp products I'll ever own. If they won't stand behind their product, I'll not be a customer of theirs in the future.
Haven't had a problem with mine other than I had to update the f/w immediately inorder to play The Fifth Element.
So far out of the ones that I have sold the Sharp has the the fastest load time for movies out of any of the HD and Blu-ray players. One key thing about Blu-ray players is that they are always needing F/M updates, you can actually hook up a jump drive to the back of the Sharp Blu-ray player to upload the F/M. I'm sorry to hear about your bad luck.
