Based on recommendations in this forum, I purchased some Taiyo-Yuden CD-Rs over the internet. Because I identify my CDs by simply writing on them with a Sharpie, I didn't buy the thermal or inkjet printable CDs. When they arrived, I was surprised to find that they have a shiny plain surface - something I've never seen before.

I assume I can write on them with a Sharpie with no ill effects - can I?

    Thanks

i am usually in the dvd media forum, but i go wherever i see Taiyo Yuden mentioned...LOL..but, yes, i have THOUSANDS of Taiyo Yudens with the shiny silver surface you are referring to with nothing but Sharpies (written in diff. colors i might add) and i have seen ZERO issues with the discs and ZERO negative effects of the ink of the Sharpie on them...

need not worry, Sharpies & TY media go hand-in-hand~

    docTY~

Thanks, folks. I'm never disappointed in getting a quick response in this forum.

I wish the forum search feature was better because I'm sure the answer to my question has already been posted. But after 20 minutes of entering various search parameters, I gave up and started a new thread.

Thanks again. I burned my first TY yesterday and used a Sharpie to ID it. So they make Sharpies in colors, eh? Gotta check that out.

Sharpies and TY's life does not get much better. I got a lightscribe burner but still prefer my Sharpies. And all those colors to choose from, it is great :)
