what are you going to use it for? also i think a mini mac is not very upgradeable except for hd, ram & maybe rom drive.

unless you're going to be doing a lot of video editing (and for my purposes, pc has always been superior here, anyway) and such, you might as well go with pc, for sheer compatibility and upgradeability.

or spit in their faces like a true brave soul and go linux. ^.^

I was always a mac person, up through OS9.
Mac's OS was so user friendly, and they were much easier to troubleshoot and correct problems. But, OSX stopped all that. I hate OSX!

It did away with the user friendliness, the ease of troubleshooting and correcting problems. OSX made the macs [bold]totally[/bold] different. Not just a little different. So, when I got a new computer, I had a pc custom built. I like XP much better than OSX.

My wife needs a new mac. She's a graphic artist at a newspaper, and does work on the side too. She [bold]needs[/bold] a mac. When we get the money, we'll probably get her a new 20" or 24" iMac.
Macs are the industry standard for graphic artists and music studio type work.
Good luck with whatever you get.

yer it's a lot to do with using the right tool for the job. With Linux and Windows they cover a multitude of uses. (i know diddly squat about Mac and that's never going to change - Macs are unnecessary in my line of work/hobbies) but my understanding is they're mainly for graphic design etc; i'm sure they're useful for day to day stuff too, again i can't make too many assumptions as i've never needed to use one before, and never will

I'm guessing yes, but can't swear to it, or else, why even run XP on it to start with, if you can't do that?
