I am looking to buy a new digital camcorder to use in greyhound racing , it will be to recorded a race then playback frame by frame to determine a winner, eg photo finish .... someone said to me its all to do with shuttle speed can someone please help me as i don't have much knowledge on cameras
Whatever DV camcorder you will buy, it will record in either 25 0r 30 frames/seconds since these are the standards for PAL and NTSC broadcasting. So consecutive frames will be at intervals of about 0.04 second. If that is good enough you can buy any cam and step through the footage frame by frame.
Thanks for the advise, does the shuttle speed make any diffrents...as when filming dogs run at fast speed i would need a clear image
Yes, you're right about that (BTW: I assume that you mean shutter speed) . Get a camcorder with sufficient manual control. Check the reviews on http://www.camcorderinfo.com and pay attention to the section "Manual control" in each of the reviews.
