Hi, I'm a newbie here to the site. Registered to see if I could get some help here, unlike other forums I've tried. First, my computer specs: -Windows XP Pro 32-bit -Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 Processor 2.40GHz, 8MB Cache, 1066MHz FSB, Kentsfield, Socket 775 -XFX nForce 680i LT SLI Motherboard, NVIDIA, Socket 775, ATX, Audio, PCI Express, SLI Ready, Gigabit LAN, S/PDIF, USB 2.0 & Firewire, Serial ATA, RAID -OCZ Dual Channel 4096MB PC6400 DDR2 800MHz Memory (2 x 2048MB) -XFX GeForce 8800 GTX Video Card, 768MB GDDR3, SLI Ready, PCI Express, Dual DVI, HDTV, Video Card I figured I would list specific details just in case.. Now the problem: Everytime I capture video, whether it be usb stream or firewire, the video "skips" or "studders" every second, almost exactly. I have used three different camcorders and a webcam. I have also used different programs like Sony Vegas 6, Adobe Premiere Pro CS3, and even windows movie maker. One thing to note is that when using the camcorder with firewire there is no studder during preview, smooth as butter. But it does studder with usb even in preview. Can anybody HELP ME?? I'm frustrated because I built this computer not too long ago to capture and edit video, and so far my old comp is doing a better job.
Yeah, ofcourse, unfortunately both of my camcorders' (sony) firewire does not work. I did capture using a friends camcorder using firewire and it does the same thing, still skips. It doesn't skip on the preview window, only on the captured footage with firewire. USB skips both on preview and capture.
By the way, I UNDERSTAND using firewire is so much better for video, but, I'm putting back money to buy something like a panasonic dvx100. Untill then I'd still like capture video, even if it means using usb. I'm trying to find out why there is a studder on the captured video.
