Using tmpgenc with toolame.exe, nero6 ultra. When I encode and burn the vcd it pixalates and sound spikes. This happens with 5 different types of media(my home DVD only recognizes RW's)this is an ongoing prob. Burned VCD's work great 1st 3/4 then pix and spikes occur. I tried smaller files ie. 300 mb(a TV show) so I wouldn't "pack the disk" but still 2/3 to 3/4 of the way through pix and spikes again. Tried slower burn rate(4x) no help. I am ready to quit VCD's any help or should I purchase a DVD burner and start over? ty TOM (P-4@2.00G,nec cd/rw,768 ram, 60 gig hd, free 30 gig,XP)

Video encoding is quite complicated. Many programs to set parameters...
Download DVD2SVCD and it will set parameters instead of U. With that U can learn how to do.

Well this sounds Like you are experienceing Bitrate Spikes which are notorius with Tmpgenc..What Happens is the Bitrate suddenly spikes really high and your DVD Player can not Spin the CD Fast enough to read the Disk in real time so you get a Stuttering Choppy effect in the Video and the audio seems to cut in and Out...The only way I was able to overcome this was to not use Tmpgenc for VCD"s because Tmpgenc has really bad Bitrate controll...Getting a DVD Burner would definately solve your problem and they can be gotten for about $150 US....cheers

Ty Minion. Guess I sort of figured that out, switched to MainConcept and prob has since went away. Much faster encoding also. Thanks for backing up my guess with fact.
