I used CloveDVD to back up Mystic River. It all went smoothly. I played it on my computer and also on my regular dvd player and it got about three quarters of the way through and it froze. Then started again and skipped a while and then frooze and stayed frozen. I got a message that the disc may be scratched and unreadable. (but it wasn't) So I skipped back and forth and waqs finally able to see the end of the movie. Can someone tell me what happened? (I tried on two other movies and the same thing happened) I would appreciate a reply from anyone that can help.
Bolis, Skipping , freezing is usually cause by inexpensive blank media. You are doing a movie and cheap media is good for pic, spreadsheets and data files but not for DVD Movies. Try and find Blank Media that has " Advanced AZO Dye " stamped somewhere on the packaging. If it has that wording this would indicate a superior dye process has been applied to the blank media. Use "Branded " Riteks or Verbatims You are having a problem w/ it skipping because on the outer areas the dye is thinner than it should be or was on the inner area.
The only azo dye I can find is verbatum but it records at 4x. My burner does 4x but I thought doing a movie should be slower. There is no way to adjust burner speed or is there? I use verbatium 1x-2x so my burner doesn't record too fast. I have 4 stand alones in the house and some movies play fine on some and some others I have this same problem. The one player that plays 99.9% of the time perfect is my Sanyo DWM-390.
Go to www.meritline.com for your media. Make sure you have the latest f/w patch for your dvdrw. You might check with the manufacturer of your drive to see what media type they recomend for your model (dvd-r or dvd+r). While your at the meritline page see what brand media they recomend for your dvdrw (probably ritek g04 or beall). It's also a good idea to remove any spyware and maybe even defrag your hd prior to any rip/burn. Hope this helps.
