    What was the original size of the disc? Can you right click on your DVD drive and select properties to get the size?

    If it is still the same as the final copy, it could be a media problem. Keep in mind that even factory DVD's use MPEG compression; which makes the video about 1/10 the size that it should be. If your stand alone is having trouble reading it; the image will end up distorted.

    To answer your media question; what country do you live in?

    One of the regulars on this board shops here: http://www.dvd-and-media.com/ and he buy Ritek's. Swears by them in fact.

    That level of compression shouldn't have produced blocks, but I'm not as fond of DVD Shrink as I am my other method;

    Rip with DVD Decrypter
    Compress With DVD2one
    The rest is the same as your method.

    As I said, going from 5.04 GB to 4.37 GB (actual size of a DVD+R) should not produce any noticable artifacts (blocks.) If my method gives you the same results then I would say it's a media issue.

    Just to cover all the bases, you are taking the files from DVD Shrink and putting it in a folder called VIDEO_TS (caps and underscore are important here.)

    (I'm hoping that you realize I meant caps were important in VIDEO_TS, not in your post, lol)

    I found for myself that the compression within DVD Shrink produced too many artifacts for my liking. Now one of the other regulars (Oriphus) uses it religeously, and he has an even larger TV than I do. I suppose it's like Coke and Pepsi; both are fine products but most people prefer one over the other.

    @ leeshare,

    So, how did things turn out with DVD2One? Did you use Constant or Variable compression?
