on my ds lite one of the pins in slot 1 is sticking out twisted, can anyone post guides on how to fix this please or a detailed guide on how to replace slot 1 completely? its not twisted much but enough to stop roms loading.

can you get inside to straighten pin? or is the only way replacing slot 1

    thanks

Once bent the pins are very brittle and tend to break off rather than bend back into shape.

    Slot 1 replacement -
Buy a new slot 1 - I have done this removing from a donor board but it makes it so much harder, ebay / deal extreme = Less than $10.

There are guides to take the DS appart so remove the circuit board.

You will need a low wattage soldering iron (15-25w) with a fine tip.
A desolder pump (solder sucker) and some de solder wick.

De solder the 4 pads (2 on each side of the slot) they may still be stuck to the board so heat them up while adding a little lifting pressure from a knife. Once all 4 are free, break open the slot and remove the plastic and metal cover - you will just have the pins left soldered to the board. Heat and remove them one by one (from one side to the other) then using the desolder wick clean the pads.

Put on the new slot 1 - it has locating pins so it will line up on the board, all the pins should be reasonable straight and line up with the pads on the board, if not do some fine tweaking to line them up.

Solder the 4 large side pads to hold the slot in place, then with the pins start at one side and do each one in turn, if you get a bridge desolder and resolder the pin.

Hopefully all sorted - I have replaced several slots and they just take time but I have never had a failure (and that was using 2nd hand slots)
