slow dial up

    hi have juno speedband on my pc and it onl connects at 40.0 Kbps and it is very fusterating. it takes forever to load web pages and i cant play battlefield 1942 without connection problems and i know of people thjat play that game on dial up with no problems. and juno isnt the only isp i used i also tried people pc and that only connected at 40.0 Kbps to could it be because of my modem or something else please help

    You are lucky that you get that high of a connect speed. When I had dial-up, up until about a year and a half ago, I connected at 32 or 33 Kbps.

    You can't expect dial-up to load web pages quickly. Dial-up is slow, and there is no way of getting around that, except going broadband.

    could also have bad telephone lines in the house, to the street or your neighborhood

    I was reading in Pc world the shorter the line from the wall jack to the modem the better(it says that you lose bandwidth with a longer line)and also maybe one of the phone connections in the house might be loose,also what ddp said

    atleast you have a chance to buy broad band,, i cant even if i tried, and i only connect at 28,8 if im lucky, and on ave 14

    thanks for your responses if i could i would get broadband or cable but it dont run out where i live thanks all

    yea i dont think its my neighborhood thats doin it because my friend that lives about 1/2 mile away has the same isp and connects around 54 Kbps every time it could be how long the cord is too thanks

    how long is the cord. could you try your neighbor's place to see if it id the neighborhood or the phone lines to or in your house

    There are other options...

    DSL if carried in your area?
    Direct TV has sattilite internet. That works anywhere! :)
