When playing back xvid files on my windows media player 9 i get perfect audio, but the video runs in slow motion and is glitchy. I have downloaded and run the xvid mpeg4 codec. What can i do to make these files work for me?

You might be using an outdated xvid codec.
Try the FFDShow filter._X_X_X_X_X_[small]Life is but a dream...so wake me up already!!![/small]

This is a problem that I've been having a lot but I've managed to sort it perfectly now by changing one option in Windows Media Player 9. Try this:

Go to Tools --> Options --> Performance --> Advanced and deselect "Use overlays" in the Video Acceleration section.

On my system this still allows me to view full screen videos. For reference, my video card is an ATI Rage 128 Pro, I'm running Windows XP and the CPU is a 1.3GHz Duron.
