I have burned a avi movie file using nerovision 4. I find the playback of the movie to be a tad in slow motion. Please note, i have attempted to burn the dvd by changing the speed settings. I've tried burning at MAX speed with the result being that the playback freezes. I tried the next option offered to me and that was to burn at 2X speed, it's still slow on playback. I've also tried burning at 1x speed and it is also slow. Upon reading all feedback left on forums, it's to my understanding that it is best to burn a dvd using no more than 4x speed. How do I change my recording speed to 4X? I've tried as i said changing the "recording speed" however the only options offered to me are MAX, 2X OR 1X speeds. Please help. thanks
the off speed of your movie is not caused by the burning speed.... it's caused by Nero and how it converts the AVI to DVD! I suggest you try to play your AVI on your computer and see if it's ok and not showing signs of off speeds. If it plays good then it's the conversion of the AVI which is Nero Vision. Try ConvertXToDVD, it's a better converter. Now, addressing your burning speeds. the availability of speeds will depend on your media. If your drive and the program recognizes the media properly it will allow all the burning speeds that the media can do. So if you have an 16x DVD then it should be able to burn anywhere from 1x all the way up to 16x (depending on the program you use). So if you are only getting a certain amount of burning speeds it's because the media is not being properly recognized by the drive and the program. Use better media. Rule of thumb here is to use media made in Japan. Taiyo Yuden is the best, IMHO, and then comes Verbatim. Try one of these and see if you can get more burning speeds! good luck and welcome to afterdawn.
Thank you for your detailed response. To be quite honest with you I tested the playback of the burned DVD on my laptop. However, I just did what you suggested. I tried it on the DESKTOP. The sound and picture were perfect. You may ask, why have i NOT tried it on a dvd player. Unfortunately my dvd player is broken. HOWEVER, with that said I am going to test the BURNED episode on my friends DVD. If I still have the playback issues that i seemed to be having upon playback on the laptop i will certainly try the program you have suggested. In the past, when i have replayed the burned DVD on the computer I have always been able to determine as to weather or not the burn was successful. This has shown me that it does vary and it does make a difference on what one uses to play the dvd they have just burned. I very much appreciate your advice. I am a bit confused as to why my playback is so poor on one computer in comparison to the excellent quality i get when i play back on the desktop. I will let you know the outcome. Again i do thank you for your detailed response. I will let you know how it all works out.
could be codecs to too many loaded or not enough i have seen nvidia graphic card drivers cause problems too on new driver updates, on pure video driver i think it is? could try a defrag to the pc also update firmware to the drive
